Known as a merchant town that prospered from the cotton trade from the Edo to Meiji periods, this road is lined with houses with namako walls and Izumo lattice, and you can see architectural styles of great historical value.
There are many sights to see where history and culture live on, including the Honishibashi Residence, soy sauce and sake breweries that continue to preserve traditional flavors, and a long-established ginger candy store. Enjoy the charms of the Cotton Road while listening to stories that only a local guide can tell.
