You will have the opportunity to try weaving and learn about how cotton came to be cultivated along the Cotton Road, the rise and fall of the cotton industry, and the lives of people at the time.

If you visit the Cotton Highway, first head to the Cotton Highway Communication Center. This quaint building is a restored former Nagasaki residence of a distinguished doctor's family who studied at the private school of Seishu Hanaoka during the Edo period and whose family continued to run as a surgical practice for generations. Here you can learn about the history of this area, where cotton cultivation once flourished, the lives of the people at that time, and the process by which cotton seeds are made into cotton products.
You can also try out weaving yourself using an actual loom.

Inside the building, you'll find a tourist information center for the Cotton Road, an exhibition corner, and a multipurpose room, where you can learn how to walk the road and what to see, so it's recommended that you start your stroll here. Also, on the first floor, there is a restaurant called "Cotton Flower" where you can enjoy a meal or coffee in a relaxing atmosphere.

・Elementary school students (1st to 6th grade) will pay the child's fee of 500 yen.
・Admission is free for preschoolers (from age 0 to elementary school).
