[Experience Details] Sakamochida Honten, founded in Meiji 10 (1877), boasts a history of approximately 150 years. As you tour our historic brewery—designated as a Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property—we’ll guide you through the sake-making process, the history of the brewery, and the culture of Izumo and sake. After the tour, you’ll enjoy a tasting of three of Sakamochida Honten’s signature sakes. While you savor the differences in flavor and aroma, we’ll explain the characteristics of each sake. Because sake brewing is a craft that engages with nature, the stages of the process you can observe and the atmosphere of the brewery vary depending on the season and timing of your visit. In spring, summer, and fall, you’ll see the brewery’s preparations and the aging process; in winter, you’ll witness the actual brewing process—allowing you to experience the brewery in a way unique to each season.
