This quaint building is a restored former Nagasaki residence of a prestigious doctor's family who studied at the private school of Hanaoka Seishu during the Edo period and whose family continued to operate as a surgical hospital for generations. You can learn about the history of this area, where cotton cultivation was once thriving, the lives of people at that time, and the process of turning cotton into cotton products. You can also try the weaving experience, where you can actually weave cloth using a loom. Inside the building, there is a Cotton Highway tourist information center, an exhibition corner, a multipurpose room, and more, where you can learn how to walk along the road and what to see, so it is recommended that you start your stroll here.
