You will make a lantern of the intangible folk art of Hirata, Unshu, "Isshiki Kazari" under the guidance of the preservation society. You can take home the lantern you made. ・Isshiki Kazari making: 60 minutes ・Materials fee will be charged separately (500 yen) Isshiki Kazari is a folk art born from the faith of Hirata Tenjin, and is characterized by the interesting "Mitate" and beautiful form using pottery and lacquerware. Its origins date back to when an epidemic in the town of Hirata was dispelled by the divine visit of Umi Shrine, and a "Daikokuten statue" was made with a set of tea utensils to welcome the god. This tradition has continued for over 230 years and is still carried on at the Hirata Tenmangu Shrine summer festival. In this experience, you can make a small Isshiki Kazari lantern using wire, and learn traditional techniques under the guidance of the preservation society while making your own lantern. Experience the charm of the town while learning historical techniques.
