Since its establishment in 1877, Sake Mochida Honten has been passing on the long-standing traditional skills of Izumo Toji under Saka Shrine, which enshrines the god of sake brewing. Five buildings, including the storehouse and inspection area, have been designated as national cultural properties, and still retain their appearance from over 140 years ago. All of the koji is handmade. All of the sake, from ginjo sake to regular sake such as josen, is made from rice grown in Shimane Prefecture. During the experience, you will visit the cultural property inside the storehouse where sake brewing actually takes place in the winter, and learn how rice is transformed into sake. After that, you can enjoy tasting three types of sake. Please try the carefully crafted sake born in Izumo, the birthplace of sake brewing.
